Human Connections

Humane Connection

Humane Connection is a non-profit association created on August 2004 and chaired by Myriam Chaabnia, whose purpose is to arouse the awareness of world problems and sustainable development.

Out of humanitarian aspirations grew a consciousness from a group of creative, autonomic Belgian people: artists, volunteers, politicians and professionals. The result was the establishment of the Let's Make Poverty History-campaign in a civil movement, which wants to help to reach the MDG’s and play a positive role in the destiny of the poor population in developing countries.

Mission

Humane Connection's mission is to move human society to live in sustainable ways and its capacity to provide for the needs and aspirations of current and future generations. This movement’s purpose is to expand consciousness.

The main tool is educating the world problems through a series of major actions to a great number of citizens: the organization of cultural and educational events, exhibitions of audiovisual works, photographs, mobilizing actors and economic policies involving the actions of associations.

History

Since 2001 the founders, Myriam Chaabnia, Maja Vossen, Ingrid De Boel and Katia Pelech, have already worked in a rural section of Senegal. In collaboration with the local population, Myriam built a regional center to educate people in the use of computer and the Internet (sponsored by the Dutch DOB foundation, http://www.dobfoundation.nl/eng)

Because of the Internet, networking became possible, so several small projects got a chance to grow and new projects saw the light. The goal of all this networking is to turn locals into entrepreneurs - entrepreneurs of their own life.

Respect human being and our Planet!

Worldwide there are millions of people who are in one way or another involved with small scale local humanitarian aid. All these people are still working autonomously without the structure of NGOs etc, ... behind them. A lot of these initiatives aren’t registered yet in an official circuit.

Humane Connection wants to emphasize the importance of networks in development and humanitarian aid. The goal of the Look4Humanity community is the creation of an online worldwide community platform for small scale projects in poor countries.

The goal of Humane Connection is to make the processes of development and humanitarian aid accessible to the public, in other words, build a community of a worldwide humanitarian social network, namely www.look4humanity.org.
